Mother and Father — Mixed Media Paintings (2)

These works are created through a press print process: first, the figures were drawn into foam board, then rolled with black ink and transferred onto paper. The prints were carefully mounted onto 8 × 10 in. canvases, with thick, textured white acrylic paint built up around the figures to add depth and dimension. The combination of printmaking and painting techniques gives each piece a striking contrast between bold line work and sculptural texture.
These two pieces were a part of the Spectrum Exhibition at the Silk Purse Arts Centre in West Vancouver.
